The Mysterious Stranger

Oh wow.. I totally forgot about this. I saw it when I was young. It seems the 80s was an edgy era for children's television.

Life itself is only a vision, a dream. Nothing exists save empty space and you, and you are but a thought. -- An Angel

What a bizarre segment. Courtesy of Mark Twain and a very random post on, of all places, gamefaqs.com.

What's interesting to me about this now is recognising the power of symbol, imagery and myth to terrify - and how we can divest ourselves of that terror through education and enquiry.. :)

I can't remember exactly where I saw this. Was it on television... was it a rental? In any case, I'm pretty sure I didn't understand it at the time.

In seriousness, what I find interesting about these clips is picking out messages and themes -- overt or otherwise. Because at some point in my life I had to debunk them all, without knowing where I'd absorbed them. ;)
