If humans use 100% of their brain, what would happen if you used only 50%?

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor thinks she knows.

The most fascinating part of this talk for me was listening to Taylor describe the experience of her stroke in amazing detail. She's also a highly engaging, and engaged speaker.

While I can't advocate for the amount of lateralization she seems to believe in, her portrayals of the right and left brain are interesting.

I've been meaning to watch this since they released it, which has been weeks now. In a spare ten minutes (because "give me ten more minutes" always takes at least twenty) I finally got to watch.

Wow. The whole life force thing is super cheesy, but I was surprised by the end to find myself so moved by it.

It's true.

I haven't been able to decide if that's just her characterization of how the right brain perceives things, or if she really means more by it.

In any case, still a really interesting talk.
