I think the psychological name for the topic of this cartoon is CONFIRMATION BIAS, and have I ever seen it a lot, sadly, mostly from women in first year university talking about themselves.
On a different note, can anyone think of a definite integral that really is equal to pi :)
That's the best way I know to generate approximations of pi; do an itegral, and use a Riemann sum on it. Otherwise you have to get out your tape measure and start bending it around a circle (and enjoy the resulting long division!)
